FULL MOON IN CANCER - DEC 29, 2020

Full Moon in Cancer

Here we are with the last full moon of 2020 in the sign of Cancer. Get ready, because this is going to be an emotional full moon to end the emotional year. But this isn't necessarily a bad thing. I think this final full moon in Cancer is a very fitting way to end the year. Cancer is a sensitive, nurturing homebody that thrives on comfort and security. With the holiday season nearly behind us and a new year on the horizon, this full moon gives us the opportunity to pause, check in with ourselves, and see where our needs lie.

NURTURE

Cancer is known for its sensitive, nurturing, and maternal energy. Cancerians often find themselves tending to the needs of their loved ones before tending to themselves. Over time, a lack of self-nurturing can build, yet we on the outside may not always notice since the crab hides behind its rough exterior. If you have been putting yourself and your needs on the back burner, it's time to focus on yourself. What needs of yours are need to be nurtured? Make yourself a priority for a change before helping others. If you have been staying on top of your self care, then maybe it's time to reach out to loved ones. This has been a difficult year and the holiday season often amplifies stress, depression, anxieties, and past traumas. Even something as simple as calling someone rather than texting can make a meaningful impact.

NEST

Cancer and the Moon both rule the Fourth House, which focuses on matters of the home and family. With this Cold Moon in the sign of Cancer coming after the winter solstice, now is a great time to grab a blanket, cuddle up, and spend some quality time inside with the ones you love. It's snowing here in Denver as I write this, so I'll definitely be partaking in some cozy time activities like putting on a good movie and working on a knitting project. If snuggling up isn't quite your thing, then cleaning and resetting your space is another great way to spend this full moon. Tending to our environments is often seen as a chore, but it can do wonders for one's mental health. Think of the "clean space, clean mind" mentality: when your home is clean, your mind is clear. It's also an awesome way to start out the new year too!

FEEL

If you do anything at all this full moon, let it be the chance to allow yourself to feel everything. Every emotion, every pain, everything you've been avoiding and repressing. Now is the time to allow yourself to be vulnerable in the rawest form so you can begin to heal and find closure. Allow your emotions to hit you like a wave, feel it all, and let it cleanse you as the water pulls back into the ocean. Draw yourself a hot ritual bath and allow yourself to feel anything and everything that comes up. When you're done, unplug the drain and stay in the tub until all of the water is gone. The negativity and intensity of the emotions will be swept down the drain with the water.
